aluminum casting

Aluminum casting in everyday life

Aluminum alloy is used more and more in daily life, in engineering, mechanical or fine arts fields ... Products made from aluminum alloy with high strength, light weight, anti-oxidation corrosion. superior to ordinary steel. Liquid aluminum alloy will be cast into details, participating in machinery structure, creating fences, gates of all kinds ...

8 aluminum casting methods - Advantages and disadvantages

Pressure aluminum casting method

The hot metal mixture will be put into the aluminum casting mold with high pressure of cylinder and piston, under the effect of great pressure the alloy will cool quickly. The technology is suitable for production with a large number of details, small size, and high precision. The advantages of pressure casting technology are low technical error, smooth surface, ensuring structural uniformity, and casting thickness. The product after casting has few defects, fewer air holes are common in other technologies. Disadvantage:  Pressure casting products will be difficult to weld.

Metal molding methods

Or permanent casting technology, with pre-formed metal molds. Metal die casting is suitable for details larger than 10kg. Metal molding products have high quality and have high mechanical properties.

Sand molding method

The mold will be made of sand and clay-like additives for bonding. The technology for molding parts, with the pattern shaped with sand, is then drawn to form an internal void. Advantages: simple and cheap processing cost. However, the product often has defects and technical errors.

Lost foam casting

Similar to sand mold casting, but requires the development of plastic/foam/nylon samples similar to real ones. The mold material is sand placed on the sample, then the molten metal material poured in will burn the foam, nylon, or plastic to replace its position. Processing costs are cheap, and easy to perform, but products are easy to have impurities and defects.

Thin die casting aluminum method

The sample material is made of wax, then dipped in a mixture of suspension to form a thin outer mold. Then sprinkle the sand on again, dip it into the suspension, and dry. The process is performed 4-5 times to create a thin, solid mold with a thickness of 20mm. Then bring to dry, the wax inside melted and molded thin. The thin die casting aluminum method is practiced in processing core material, however, the product will have defects.

Centrifugal casting

With a pre-machined metal die, then the aluminum casting mold is placed on a centrifuge. The centrifuge rotates, causing more tightening of the metal alloy, reducing defects but only applicable to circular designs.

Continuous casting

The die is pre-machined, with water-cooled. The mixture will be poured continuously into the pre-designed mold. Application for the production of aluminum bars and aluminum profiles.

Plaster casting

Similar to the manufacture of core materials, with a plaster cast to form the specimen. Then take out the sample material, and exchange the metal mixture to form the shape.
