Cold chamber die casting machine

Cold chamber die casting machine

The cold chamber type pressure casting machine is divided into three types
+ Horizontal style.
+ Vertical pressing type from bottom up.
+ Vertical pressure from top to bottom

Vertical pressure from top to bottom

  • Can be considered as the direct pressing method, the working principle is described as follows.
When plunger 1 goes up, the liquid metal loaded into the press chamber will solidify at the second tightening position and cannot enter mold cavity 1. When piston 1 goes down, under the effect of high pressure, the metal that has been solidified at the point of line 2 will be pushed down and the liquid metal fills in the mold 3.
  • This pressing method is suitable for zinc, magnesium and aluminum casting.

Vertical pressure from top to bottom

When plunger 1 goes up, the liquid metal loaded into the press chamber will solidify at the second tightening position and cannot enter mold cavity 1. When piston 1 goes down, under the effect of high pressure, the metal that has been solidified at the point of line 2 will be pushed down and the liquid metal fills in the mold 3.
  • This pressing method is suitable for zinc, magnesium and aluminum casting.

Vertical pressing type from bottom up.

  • When piston 1 goes down, liquid metal is fed into the press chamber. As the piston goes up and over the inlet hole, filling and molding begin to take place and maintain the casting to fully solidify.
  • The advantage and disadvantage of this method is the use of the horizontal parting surface. When lifting half of mold 3, the casting still does not fall. A thrust system must be used to expel the casting from the mold.
  • This method is suitable for large and heavy castings.

Pressure casting in horizontal cold pressing chamber

Stage 1: Feeding stage:

After locking the mold on the machine table, the hydraulic cylinder system to lock the mold will operate, then the two halves of the mold will be pressed tightly together. In this stage, the liquid metal pouring cup will pour liquid metal into the pressing cylinder, after the liquid metal has filled the pouring cup, the press plunger will pass through and seal the filling hole. The speed of the plunger and the pressure in the chamber is still small. Because then the pressure is just enough to overcome the friction.

Second stage: The cavity filling stage.

The metal has been filled in the press chamber, in this stage the piston speed increases, and reaches the maximum value v2, while the p2 pressure also increases very quickly and reaches the maximum value, at which time the plunger presses. liquid metal into the mold, with the metal flow rate, is very large, so the filling time is very fast, the metal in the mold will form the shape of the casting, after a very long time Shortly, when casting is formed, the metal is then cooled by the mold’s cooling system.

Third stage: Opening mold

The movable half-mold will be opened by the mold opening and closing system, and at the same time, the side code structure is drawn. At this point, the casting is still on the side of the die.

Stage four: Products pushing phase

At this time, the product push system will push the product to fall out of the mold, and at the same time, the pressure plunger also moves towards the press chamber. After the product is dropped, the movable part of the mold is pressed into the stationary part by the opening / closing system. A new cycle is started again.
