III. Challenges & Solutions
The complex profile of the slats lacks detailed drawings, requiring them to be cut from a sample for design and material composition analysis, followed by the development of a machining plan. The narrow gap between the slats demands tight tolerances, necessitating the precise design of welding and bending jigs, as well as accurate straightening fixtures. The weld lines and joints between the slat panels must be uniform and continuous. Additionally, the frame structure poses significant challenges in terms of fabrication.
After receiving the VNO sample, a meeting was held with the factory to finalize the implementation plan, which includes:
- Cutting and scanning the sample to create a detailed profile drawing of the slats;
- Analyzing the material composition based on color;
- Designing fixtures to position and secure the slats precisely before welding, ensuring tolerance requirements are met according to the drawing specifications;
- Designing the overall welding fixture in alignment with the general structural design.
