Vietnam continues to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminum

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued a decision to continue applying anti-dumping measures to some aluminium products originating from China.

Accordingly, apply anti-dumping tax on some aluminium, alloy or non-alloy products in the form of extruded bars, rods and shapes, whether or not surface treated, whether or not processed. imported into Vietnam and classified according to HS codes 7604.10.10, 7604.10.90, 7604.21.90, 7604.29.10, 7604.29.90 are originating from China on the basis of the first review result (code case AR01.AD05).

According to the above decision, manufacturers and exporters are subject to anti-dumping measures with an anti-dumping tax rate of 4.39 - 35.58%. The above decision is issued to replace Decision No. 2942 / QD-BCT dated September 28, 2019, of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the application of official anti-dumping measures on some aluminium products originating from China.

Previously, at the end of September 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade decided to apply official anti-dumping measures on some extruded aluminium products originating from China. The temporary anti-dumping tax rate applicable to the Chinese aluminium extrusion bar exporters is from 2.49% to 35.58%.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade added that this agency began to conduct the investigation in January 2019 on the basis of records requested by representatives of the domestic manufacturing industry in October 2018.


The results of the investigation and assessment show that the domestic aluminium manufacturing industry has suffered heavy losses in recent times, reflected in the indexes that most of the enterprises have lost money, many production lines had to stop. operations and a large number of employees had to quit their jobs.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that the main reason for the above situation is that Chinese aluminium is being dumped with a margin of from 2.49% to 35.58%, in some cases, the selling price is much lower than that. with production costs after being prevented by many countries with trade barriers, including anti-dumping measures.

By mid-2020, the Trade Defense Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that it had received a request for the first review of anti-dumping measures on some aluminium products of Chinese origin imported into Vietnam. And conduct investigation and review. Based on the review results, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a decision to continue to impose an anti-dumping tax on Chinese aluminium at a tax rate of 4.39 - 35.58%.
